Ilari Hylkila
Ilari Hylkilä is a Finnish composer and a lover of melodies, whose works are often described as 'cinematic.' He has composed over fifteen pieces for symphony and string orchestras, as well as 32 compositions for wind bands. His music has been performed by numerous ensembles around the world.

Hylkilä has ranked among the top in various composition competitions, winning five of them. His most recent accolade is a shared first place in the 2023 international Markku Johansson Composition Competition for his orchestral work Whispers of the Sea. Among his other achievements, Hylkilä’s concert band piece Zembaloo was the runner-up in the 2019 SMP Press Composition Competition.

Hylkilä has studied music at several institutions, including the University of Jyväskylä, the Open University of the Sibelius Academy, and the Open University of the University of the Arts Helsinki in Finland. His longest-serving composition teacher was Ilkka von Boehm.
