Rob Hendrickson

Robert Hendrickson is a passionate and versatile composer, arranger, and music educator whose work bridges the worlds of sacred, classical, popular, and world music with a deep heart for community and youth development. With a background rooted in both formal composition training and grassroots musical ministry, Robert brings a unique voice to the creation and adaptation of music for diverse ensembles and performers of all levels.

As the Music Director of the Salvation Army Gresham Corps, Robert leads a robust youth music program serving one of Oregon’s most culturally diverse and underserved communities. His arrangements and original compositions are performed by brass bands, vocal ensembles, percussion groups, and soloists, with a special emphasis on accessible scoring for young and emerging musicians.

Robert's compositional style is characterized by rich harmonic language, rhythmic vitality, and melodic accessibility, often drawing from the sounds of global traditions, gospel, and contemporary Christian music. Many of his works reflect a commitment to spiritual depth and inclusivity, written to uplift and inspire both performers and audiences.

In addition to composing for local ensembles and worship settings, Robert has arranged music for regional Salvation Army events, summer camps, and youth competitions, including the acclaimed Encore Music and Arts Festival. With a strong belief that music is both ministry and empowerment, he regularly creates tailored works to highlight the talents of young musicians while nurturing their musical growth.

When not writing or conducting, Robert mentors student musicians, leads music retreats and camps, and works alongside families to build a sustainable, intergenerational music community.
