Jeffry Lowden
Jeff Lowden comes from a family of musical avocations and vocations going back several generations. His initial influences were his composer/arranger father, Bob Lowden and trombonist/teacher uncle, Dudley. After a well-rounded high school musical experience he went on to get his undergraduate degree in Music Education at the Hartt College of Music of the University of Hartford. He later did graduate work at the Yale Summer School of Music & Art, the University of Northern Colorado and Temple University. He has played professionally as a trombonist in the Philadelphia-South Jersey area and as member of the Wind Symphony of Southern New Jersey. He has always enjoyed writing music as much as playing it and arranges for marching and concert bands, jazz ensemble, chorus, various small groups as well as solo vocal and instrumental performers whenever the opportunities arise. Mr. Lowden’s true love, however, was and continues to be passing on his musical knowledge and experience to young people. He was fortunate enough to teach Instrumental and Choral Music, Music Theory, Music Technology and Music Appreciation and serve as a Department Coordinator of Music, Art and Technology at Shawnee High School in Medford, New Jersey from the opening of that institution in 1970 until he retired in 2010. He lives in Marlton, NJ with his wife, Lee Ann. His children, Meredith and Evan and four grandchildren often visit their “empty” nest. Jeff’s retirement activities also include traveling, biking, photography, reading (especially history), revisiting the Spanish language and gardening.
