Style and Rhythm
Though Nazareth called many of his works "tangos," they are distinctively Brazilian tangos rich hybrids that blend elements of:
Choro (a lyrical, improvisational Brazilian genre),
European salon music (especially the waltz and polka), and
Afro-Brazilian syncopations, the very pulse of Rio's cultural heartbeat at the time.
In "Pyrilampo", we hear that refined syncopation a gentle push and pull that gives the piece its buoyant, almost dancing light quality. The rhythm sparkles like a fireflys flicker, with alternating sections that shift between lyrical lines and lively passages.
